Our team of coaches include a diverse group of award-winning educators and international chess masters. For the last 7 years we've developed a unique mixture of structured game-play, group tuition, one-to-one coaching, puzzles, tournaments and much more. The result? Our inclusion of diverse and international expertise is one of our key distinctives at Chess Cubs. Originally founded on approaches used in New York elementary schools, we continue to build bridges by assigning each partner school a local tutor and a global coach who stays in touch via remote video tools like Microsoft Teams. We find this makes for rigorous gameplay and rich cultural exchange.
Life and leadership skill development
Aside from being a great game to play for its own sake, chess is well known for the additional benefits of encouraging sociability, forward planning
and logical thinking. But at Chess Cubs we go a step further: Our Year 6 modules are designed to not only teach the game, but prepare year 6 students for transitioning into secondary education with the right set of life and leadership principles — ideas which we illustrate through chess.
